Those looking for an Android tablet may postpone any purchase for now due to rumors of a potential new offer from Chinese giant Xiaomi.
Here’s what we know about the much-anticipated Xiaomi Pad 6.
When will the Xiaomi Pad 6 be released?
The news we’ve seen so far points to the release date for the fall (or for those in North America) that fits the timeline we saw with the excellent Xiaomi Pad 5, which will go on sale in September 2021.
Still, it could be a little early, as sites like Xiaomiui report a device that is suspected to be the Pad 6 in China and is expected to arrive in August.
Since Xiaomi announced the Pad 5 in August, this may be a bit of both, but it went on sale worldwide a few weeks later in September. As with most Xiaomi products, we do not expect it to be available in the United States.
How much will the Xiaomi Pad 6 cost?
There is no official price confirmation for the iPad 6 yet, so we need to look at how much the previous generation cost to give us an idea. We present Xiaomi Pad 5 prices
- Xiaomi Pad 5 6GB/128GB – £369/€349/₹26,999
- Xiaomi Pad 5 6GB/256GB – €399/₹28,999
As you can see, these prices are quite competitive with the 10.2-inch iPad, which competes directly. Therefore, when the Xiaomi Pad 6 arrived, we expected them to remain almost the same.
What features and specifications will we see in the Xiaomi Pad 6?
There is very little to say in terms of solid rumors about the Xiaomi Pad 6. The only thing that looks really wild is the above-mentioned list of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), which is the main indicator that Xiaomi is working on. new tablet.
In fact, these rumors (as reported by various sites, including Notebookcheck) also point to a potential sibling for the Pad 6, which some have speculated could be a budget tablet from Redmi. It is interesting.
This is what we want to see with the Xiaomi Pad 6, without any clear indication of what the new model will contain, except for GizmoChina’s vague indication that Xiaomi may switch from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 to an MediaTek Dimensity alternative.
Better contact options
In our review of the Xiaomi Pad 5, one of the few hardware improvements we thought we needed came in the contact area. First, the LTE version is not available; This can be a problem if you find yourself out of Wi-Fi coverage. So while 5G capabilities are still too expensive to reach these low price points, we hope the Pad 6 will have at least a 4G model. Wi-Fi 6 would also be good, but not so urgent, because most people still don’t have a suitable router at home.
more memory
Xiaomi offers two storage options, the Pad 5 – 128GB and 256GB, both of which come with 6GB of RAM. Admittedly, it’s not that bad, but the expected Android 12L OS, especially optimized for tablets, will be very pleased to see 8GB on the Pad 6 when it arrives this year.
Professional models
Of course, Xiaomi can solve all the above-mentioned problems only by introducing Pro models to China in the form of Pad 5 Pro. They came with 5G, Wi-Fi 6 and offered an 8GB / 256GB configuration that could be perfect. So, the answer is already there, you just need to put it on some ships and deliver it to these shores.
I hope the Xiaomi Pad 6 makes that a reality. If you can’t wait until then, check out the list of the best Android tablets to see if there’s anything else you like.
